Dialup internet and virus scan

I run Windows XP, E-Trust virus scan and have dialup internet. After I turn computer on, it automatically starts to dial the internet, even when I don't want it to. E-Trust told me to change internet option to "never dial up", but it was already set on this. Please help as I don't always want to go to internet when using computer. K

Hello Kay, Did you install by inadvertance in your internet explorer toolbars from Yahoo or Google ? if yes this is why your internet connexion is permanently sollicited to access the web. Toolbars initiate most of the time advertisings .... Try it first, then tell us the result....

yea! etrust does that,plus there are a couple others as well.. I just removed etrust and there firewall... It was doing the same thing. this is a bug in etrust Products. You could try another AV and firewall..

No not at all, there are some free ones you could try. Like AVG and say Sygate firewall.
