AVG found dialer8.U and put it in the vault. Also, my homepage has been changed to not what I want. I went to the startup menu and found OLEHELP--svchost.exe which I don't think was there before. I unchecked it, restarted and went to my homepage. The home page has change back to NOT the one I want. PLEASE help ME...Also, Adaware is slower than molasses now, but I don't know if that is related or not. Can you help with this? thank you

Hell I got the same thing and it's driving me nuts. It's spreading like wildfire on one particular pc of mine. I too run AVG and move it to vault for only it to reapear while running the avg after and amoung any other time.

I have tried running spybot s/d but it won't install I have webroot spy search but it won't detect it. CWShredder won't get rid of it either and AVG tells me it's in C:\WINDOWS\CWShredder05062004.exe but there is no such file as i have searched. Then it tells me that theres one in ie temp files but i have deleted them all and now it says in system restore. I keep running the avg over and over, trapping and moving to the vault only to get about 20 more within a few minutes!!!!!!!!!

If you can find out where or how to get rid of this stupid thing I would sure like to know.

ah guys very common problem with this thing so am going to give ya a big help on it

first turn systme restore off.

run avg click a virus vault and delete infected files..

u should have one file that is unable to be deleted so u have to delete it manually..if so click test results in avg and detail info to see the path of infected file..then post on here.

seems also its takeing over your browser so u do need a shield to stop it..download this free software that guards your browser u get 1 update then after that u have to pay if u like it.also spy ferret is a very great tool.

spysweeper
http://www.webroot.com/wb/products/spysweeper/index.php?rc=266&ac=417

u also should make whats called rescue disk that avg makes..what this does is boot your computer up in ms-dos mode so no program is running but avg..it auto scans and removes virus worms trojammers. requires 3 1.44mb floppys make first floppy a system disk by going to my computer right click on a: click format /s or format and check the system files included.

thats what i want u guys to do first...anything i need info from ya like the pathway of virus if one cant be moved to vault or clean.

good luck.

p.s. download spy ferret and sweeper. both arent free but they do alot better job of detecting than adware..which i also reccommend haveing.

I moved the dialer to the vault and all seems to be ok..Is it or do In need to delete it? How do I delete stuff in the vault? I have had very little experience with problems like this.. I have no symptoms that I can see. I ran cwshredder, and that seemed to fix the hompage problem. Please let me know,,,,

Sorry for the extra post here. This dialer thing happened a few days ago.I did turn on and off system restore to clear it out. Anyway,I scan once a day with AVG and Adaware both have said I am clean. Like I said, I have absolutely no symptoms like icons or pop-ups and the scans don't show anything.. The machine runs the way it did before the fiasco..Am I home free?

sup newguy one of the neat things about avg is its so user friendly for notice computer users and a very reliable detecter..

to access your virus vault do this..

open avg ..click program at top left corner...click virus vault..

click files thats in vault and use left hand icon that looks like a trashcan with red arrow that deletes the infections permanet.

now setup your vault settings by click file ..settings..click the automatic file removeing set for 1 or 2 days....this way it auto deletes vault infections.

any question just post

have a nice day.
