Too much TV..
You could only find out what some one has left laying around for snoopy public viewing.
OR what has been criminaly leaked by supposedly confidential organizations.
Be wary of who you give your private info to and you won't have to worry about it getting misused.
Fer instance you can't find my credit card info online becuase it's never been exposed there. You wouldn't have much more luck trying to find my real name.
What they can't see or touch, they can't misuse or steal.

;)
Even 'The Shadow' don't know.

do a google search on urban myths and hoaxes

As a state liscensed Private Investigator, I will say that there is alot of information on just about anyone over the internet. The trick is knowing where to search for the information PLUS having the legal resources and the proper credibility to do so. I begin all my investigations over the internet using the same databases that the police and other liscensed law enforcement agencies use and than I move on to offline resources to complete the investigation. The most common information that I find over the internet are Social Security#,Birthdates, Current and previous home addresses,Employer, Home and Work phone#, Marital Status, Names of Spouses or Ex-spouses, Credit Records. With this information, I than use my offline resources to find other personal information relevent to the investigation. The point I am trying to make is that a qualified investigator with the experience and tactical know-how can find all there is to know about a subject by using a combination of online and offline resources.
