I downloaded AdAware's upgrade to the Anniversary Edition, taking the '25 free music downloads' offer. I didn't find any music I wanted, so after installing the upgrade I closed the music account. When I rebooted I noticed that some of my icons were missing. I also noticed that each time I start my PC up I am missing more icons. Also, the Start All Programs is missing some too. And many (not all) folders show up as 'Empty.' When I go to Accessories and click System Tools, it shows Empty, too! My system is disappearing! I tried booting my XP CD-ROM, but it doesn't have an option to to a Repair when I hit Enter. It used to. I don't want to do a complete clean install, since I don't have a reliable backup. I never received a virus warning. Can anyone offer any advice? It will be appreciated.
Thank you.
A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy just enough people to be worth the effort.
