XP - Home

j$app128$ca

I deleted this File when it became infected with a Virus but it seems that it is required in order for my Firewall to work properly

It is located in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp

'Local Settings' is a Hidden Folder

I should be most grateful if someone could send me this File

Thanks - Lesley

Leslie, is this for the XP firewall? Have you tried system restore? Have you used the OS CD to recover the missing file? If it is another firewall, what is it? I cannot locate a file with this name for you.

No, it isn't for the Firewall (PC-cillin) at all, it was just the File which was infected but its deletion seems to have affected the Firewall

Yes, I have done System Restore and I don't think the File is a System File. The offending Virus was JS_Traffichbar.a

The Local Settings Folder where the File was located is a Hidden Folder

Thanks for looking anyway

Lesley

Leslie, I think it is a Java script file. Does your encryption program still work?

I have never used any encryption program - is there an XP one? - I wouldn't know if it works!

The reason I think it is this is 128 is the encryption number that is used. What I meant by encryption, is the program that allows you to use your bank account or other secure websites. If it does not work download or repair your Microsoft Java program, or download another one from Sun Micro. The virus you had uses Java to get into your system from a malicious website. You need to set your security settings for Java to high security.
