I originally asked this question in the forum for my O/S (Windows Me)

1)Running a system check my software flagged files msqsrv32.exe & mprext.exe in red as 'dangerous'. I know these are Windows system files used by a number of programmes so am reluctant to mess with either of them. Would someone explain what the files do and why they are regarded as dangerous ?

2)Thanks for the response

I'm afraid I do have msqsrv32.exe (q rather than g) My software states File is component of LIMUS virus.I have 15 dependencies on this system file.

My mprexe.exe is missing the 't' but software advises File is component of OPASERV.T virus. I have 25 dependencies on this file and perhaps even worse my software advises the file 'Is not the valid Microsoft system file'

What do you think and/or advise ?

I was asked to post in this forum and link back to the Me group

I am using Iolo Technologies System Mechanic (Version 6)

My Virus Software (McAfee latest version) does not detect any problem

Anyone any thoughts on this problem and is there a fix ?

Just did a google & it appears a reputable company. If nobody else finds a bad report on them, use it.
