Download and run a new update of CWShredder.exe
CWShredder.exe
http://www.merijn.org/files/CWShredder.exe
Version 1.44.2 will remove CWSTherealsearch everytime.

It was made to do it.
and click ‘Open’ and 'Fix' ; or 'Scan' and ‘Next’;
(obtain a new version for each run; there is a recent update)
Make sure that you click 'Next' and don't just scan only.

Don't save CWshredder.exe on your system for more than a afew days. It gets updated, often several times a week. Always download a new version when you go to run it.

Jack G., no harm in leaving it on your system, just each time you go online you should check for updates (as you should for all your Security programs), which are easily copied from the zip file to your desktop etc.

I don't know which version added the update button; should use the proggies more myself.
(better go change my canned reply)

Also; check again what it covers.
This tool will find and destroy all traces of the CoolWebSearch (CWS) hijacker on your system. This includes:

* Redirections to CoolWebSearch related pages
* Redirections when mistyping URLs
* Redirections when visiting Google
* Enormous IE slowdowns when typing
* IE start page/search page changing on reboot
* Sites in the IE Trusted Zone you didn't add
* Popups in Google and Yahoo when searching
* Errors at startup mentioning WIN.INI or IEDLL.exe
* Unable to change or see certain items in IE Options
* Unable to access IE Options at all

Plus it contains a Byteverify link, SP1 update link and a MSJava replacement link.
Pretty good value tool.

Krioni,
Please start a new thread with all your relevant information listed, and follow forum guidelines in doing this.

You may not have a CWS infection,
or there may be other factors.

Only if you are convinced you have a CWS infection will the shredder work for you.
CWS info: New address: http://www.merijn.org/cwschronicles.html

IF,
you do have an infection: Run the Shredder.exe
click ‘Open’ 'Yes' and 'Fix' ;
OR
'Scan only', 'Back' and ‘Next’;
Remember to start a new topic for your next post.
