Hey guys, the new version is 1.46.03. It also has a bug fix to take care of a problem where it undid Immunazation options in Spybot. Which I didn't even know happened.

I spoke too soon. Guys, something is not right, I don't have a good feeling here. Ok, I again got the warning about SmartSearch (or the other way around) 2 being on my system, along with the random string-----after having deleted the old and ran the new.
Also, upon starting the scan, I get this message:
One or Two Policy Restrictions were found on your system that prevent the current user from changing the Internet Explorer Homepage or accessing the Internet Options dialog. If you used Spybot's "Immunize" function, you should uncheck the last two "Lock" items there. These do NOT prevent browser hijackers, they only prevent users from changing your Homepage/Internet Options. If you want something to prevent homepage changes, check out "StartPage Guard".Um, since when did CWShredder start doing this? And why is it picking that particular option to talk about? Furthermore, indeed right before I updated, I found the homepage settings un-greyed and the Spybot homepage lock option unchecked.
What the hell is going here? Never have I had this issue with CWShredder and never have I had so many homepage changes and unlocking done while seeing nothing come up in CWShredder and a clean HijackThis scan.

Thanks for the update info. Like you, I again got the scrambled header and warning re SmartSearch 2 variant and, again, ONLY on the first scan with the update: nothing was found - VERY odd!!
I received no warning re Policy restrictions??

I don't understand why that long message is coming up, it has never advertised for another product before, and yet again another program saying features in Spybot don't work.
It's worrying me because there is absolutely no hint of anything suspicious. In fact, lately the only things that are suspicious on here are the programs designed to keep suspicious things off.
Does anyone know why if something other than a user changes his or home page, SpywareGuard says nothing, but if the user does it, SpywareGuard warns that something or someone is trying to make the change?

First re spywareguard, I would think it is in the method used to change the homepage. There is probably a specific back-door way (like a registry edit) that spywareguard does not see (which is kind of worrisome).
I do need to wonder, though, why you are running cws with no signs of problems?
There is an old chinese proverb that goes something like this: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Hi Efabes, I ran CWS because of a specific O1 entry that the HijackThis Tutorial said could be caused by a CW infection. But again, it came clean.

Now that you mention that O1 entry, I think I read that in another post of yours, but I must have forgotten.
Cool Web Search is a pain to remove (duh, that's why CWShredder was written).
But, if you can remove the line in HT and it does not return, I would bet you are not infected with cool web search.
