Hey guys.
I recently posted about a virus problem and I have no idea if this will be related to it.
You may have heard about the Trend Micro security weakness found in TmXPFlt.sys allowing a buffer overflow.
I had been having problems with my CPU running at 99-100% and until I downloaded process explorer I had no idea why. The system process was just running at 100% so I couldn't run any other programs or I could but it would take 5-10mins for anything to open (except Mozilla or IE :S).
When I found information about the TmXPFlt.sys problem I downloaded Trend Micro's new virus engine and the problem was fixed for a few days but its back and looking in process explorer its the same thread in the system proces. "TmXPFlt.sys+0xb316"
Any ideas? I'm yet to email Trend Micro because the last time I asked them a question it took a few weeks for an email reply.

Try booting into safe mode and running the scan there. I would also recommend an additional spyware/malware program. Often, it can take multiple programs to clean a system and in some cases, System Restore needs to be turned off, to deactivate areas on an Xp system where they like to hide. You can then scan and then renable System restore when everything is clean. Spybot Search & Destroy is a free spyware program along with Lavasoft Adware. Always keep your anti-virus programs definition files up to date along with a properly configured firewall.

did as you recommended, all scans found nothing wrong.
problem seems to have gone away for no particular reason, unless it was something hiding in system restore, is it safe to enable it again?
Trend says that its probably due to an incompatibility between Internet Security 2006 and the 2007 engine update. Will need to get a newer version of Trend's products if i wish to stay with them, which I dont :)
cheers for your help mate.
