What do you wish to convert from and to?

Is this Linux as stated?

OK, so which do you want:

1. To convert VDX files to ADV?.

or

2. VDX and ADV to some more useful format?

Also, my other question, please confirm that you are using Linux, as stated?
If so I'll ask for this post to be transferred to the Linux forum for the best help.

On another post you said this:
"I can't down load file they are too big need converter I have a Blackbox ns840"

So it now sounds as if the aim is for smaller files - is that right?
If so what do you mean by download? From what to what. If you mean from the internet to your NS840 then it is impossible to do anything until they are on a computer.

If VDX and ADV are "file extensions" then they are quite rare and would need a specialised program to even open them.

Please try to answer all questions (including #4 above), or explain your requirements in full detail.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

As others have said, it is very unclear what you actually want and/or what the problem is. Have the Police not told you what they need? I'd expect any half-decent Police force to have someone who could download the files themselves if you gave them access to your computer. In fact, I would imagine they would prefer to do so to avoid the possibility of tampering with the files.

Why not talk to them and find out what they suggest? They must deal with this sort of problem every day.
