I had a virus on my computer and we thought we had gotten rid of it entirely. It was one that was in an away message in AOL Instant Messenger that said something along the lines of "omg, look at these!" and well it affected the control alt delete on the computer so if you do it it stays up for about 2 seconds and goes away entirely. Well, I was going to defrag my computer last night and it did the same thing with that! It stayed open for 2 seconds and went away! Does anybody know how to fix it?! Oh, I started reading some of the other forums too and they had some ways to try to fix it however they were like start/run/type regedit which i do then the screen comes up and also disappears! :( please help

Yeah Krystal the trials and tribulations of AOL and their unsecure instant messaging which a lot of people are led to believe is safe from viruses but is not and is the new target of these creeps. They hit you with whats known as an IRC Flood virus . Quite common. Use Stinger from Mcafee the link i'll post it will cleanse your system of it just don't leave you instant messaging open while your away. Rick

Krystal, The link below may be of some help.
Why does Task Manager, MSCONFIG, or REGEDIT disappear while opening?
You may also want to run the Free HouseCall online virus scan at the link below for a second opinion.

hey tufenuf,
i tried that already, the task manager will not run it pops up you type in whatever and the other screen comes up and then disappears also!!

Krystal, It wouldn't hurt anything to go to the link below and download the Fixswen.inf file. Save the fixswen.inf file to your local hard disk, right-click on the file and choose install.
"A Setup INF file to undo registry changes made by W32/Swen@MM and other threats that prevent REGEDIT, BAT, COM, EXE, PIF, REG and SCR files from running".
