Constant error messages

OS: windows xp
CPU/Ram: pentiurm 4

After surfing the web my computer froze up then came good and now has constant error messages when trying to open up anything even folders etc. Viewing the error reports did nothing neither did adaware or restarting the computer etc. Whats doing how can i get it fixeD?

1.) What are the error messages, you're receiving? {exact/precise wording, and spelling}

2.) What, if anything, did Ad-Aware remove/fix?

3.) Do you have an anti-virus software/program? If so, is it updated? If you don't, did you try/use an on-line one?
