Subject: connection drops at 8pm every night
OS: winME
CPU/Ram: AMD ~1100 256mb
Comment:

my internet connection drops every night at 8pm on the dot, and wont start up again till about 6am. heres some facts:
-56k dial-up connection
-connection drops everynight starting at 8pm
-weird sounds during dialing process
-no problem with calling using phone after
8pm
-if connects only at slow speed
-if connects only for a min, two at most
-firewall shows no hits only constant hits
due to pings from users infected with
worm. but this happends all the time.
-ran av scans, and spyware scans.. CLEAN
-ZONEALARM "locked mode"= no programs trying
to make outside connection.. TESTED

next test= im going to alter my comps internal clock to see if its triggered by that...
well there it is, any solutions? as you can see i've been quite busy with this problem,
ANY IDEAS?? thanks...

Alter the internal clock !! why ??? seems you got a total crap for isp ... phone them and ask them about it. Mine used to take ages to dial in to around 8 to 9pm because they overload the damn network.
If the problem continues, consider changing isp.

Call your phone company. Maybe something is happening to the lines during those hours.

has anyone installed a program like "cyberpatrol" etc. on your pc?
those have a ruleset that can restrict the time /hours of internet use. it can also be done with a policy program
