Conficker worm protection for 98se

I wasn't sure whether to ask here or in the 98 forum but being a security issue here goes. I have been reading about this Conficker worm lately and of course everyone says to patch your system etc. Well since M$ won't support 98 anymore what steps can one take against this threat?
