Specs: Windows Vista
I ran Kaspersky Anti virua and it detected 18 malicious objects, 113 trojans and 5 viruses. Does this mean my security on the PC has been compromised? Also, cookies have been appearing with alarming frequency on my machine. Whenever i enter gmail or yahoo a pop up informs me that my security settings do not allow websites to use AcitveX installed on my computer but them gmail and yahoo wont access until i install ActiveX control. What it happening. thanks for ur prompt response in advance.

I don't believe Gmail uses active-x. Were you successful wiping that malware off? Do not Ok any active-x control that you are not sure of. In Gmail, select the basic html interface. If it still asks for the active-x, it's definitely malware trying to install its most active component.

Thanks Paul. Unfortunately i havent been able to wipe the malware off! Have been accessing mail in gmail thru basic html. The Activex requests still persists. Am also checking my yahoo mail in Yahoo mail classic. My suspicions are confirmed, but what does the culprit want thru ActiveX, to access my mails obviously, i think?
