Hi all.....
You have been a great help in the past. I have a computer that takes about 20 minutes to boot up, well till the green light for the hard drive goes out.

I have installed adware se, spybot, spyware blaster, avast and ran the online scan for ewido. The ewido online scan said it found some trojan dialers but how do I get rid of them?

I think I also need to clean out the start up, but not sure what to do.

Thanks for your help in advance !!!!!!

Also to add.... Your RAM is very, very minimal... That doesn't help matters at all. That should be increased to at leasy 256 for XP to run adequately.
Good little machine, that Dimension 2350.... I had one too and liked it quite a bit.

Sorry, I don't recall the name, I'll run the scan again and find out. Actually it was Kaspersky online scan that found it, my mistake.

I did run all but edwido in safe mode, it wouldn't let me for some reason. I'll try again. At this moment I an running the bitdefender online scanner.(I am on another puter beside it) It has picked up one virus in Aim files, but the deletiion failed. Says it was "detected with Adware.Wheaterbug.A" "disinfection failed..deleted...update failed.
It is my daughter's friends computer and when I got it there was no protection on it whatsoever. It was infested. I have gotten it to this point.
I had that trojan scanner and it didn't pick anything up so I uninstalled it.
Any idea about the start up progams?

Ok for the weatherbug, go here Weather Bug and scroll down to the "How to I Remove WeatherBug?"
And the trojan Remover (in Response Number 2) should eliminate the trojan.downloader
Also have you tried Hijack This then paste your log on the Analyzer Page
Hope this Helps

You also may want to check to see what is loading at start up, go to start /run and type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and hit the start up tab.
As far as your ram issue , it is low (the minimum) but shouldnt cause you to take this long to boot, when possible you should invest in another stick of ram and boost up to 256 as "sleepy lobster" suggests
Pst back to let us know how your making out.

You could download and install a 30 day trial version of Kaspersky. Then you could use it to clean your system. You would probable have to uninstall the antivirus program that you have now in order to install Kaspersky.

If the files are listed as "in use" or they are "protected", turn of system restore(My Computer>properties>system restore, then empty the temp internet files and off line content and then restart the computer. During the restart tap the F8 key and enter the safe mode, select administrator and then run Kaspersky. I would uninstall Weather Bug as it is full of spyware. If you try deleting all its spyware, Weather Bug will not work.
