Hello,
I suggest two solutions:
1) to clean your Internet Explorer program:
Control panel/program "add&remove programs/find "internet explorer and his tools"/ send it / 3 options, one is "repair" / send the "repair" procedure/ IE will scan for damaged or corrupted files and will repair it / you will need to reboot your computer at the end of procedure.
2) to download two excellents freewares to avoid cookies spywares which harass memory into your computer:
A) AdAware 6.0
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/english/support/download/
B) SpywareBlaster

Good luck

Had a similar problem:

My problem was with Norton's NAV 2k4 Autoprotect (SAVScan.exe) trying to scan java scripts (*.js)

Norton's suggested work-around was to exclude *.js from Autoprotect files:

To add .js files to Auto-Protect exclusions, please do the following:

1. Start NAV.
2. Click Options. If you see a menu, click Norton AntiVirus.
3. In the left pane under System, click Auto-Protect.
Click Exclusions.
4. In the right pane, click New.
5. In the Item box, type *.js and click OK.
6. Open your browser and test the connection.

Seems to me that this leaves me open to malicious .js scripts, but it did improve my performance dramatically.

Suggestion: Try this, and if it DOESN'T work, reinstate *.js scanning!

Good luck
