computer shuts down when booting

CPU/Ram: 1800/256

My computer shuts down. It could be a virus, i donīt know, but now it doesnīt even load windows, it shuts down when booting. Iīve tried to boot from cd-rom, and even tried to format the hard disk, but as soon as iīm going to do it, it shuts down. I donīt know what to do. please help

Have you checked all your system fans and the fan that is on your CPU to make sure they are running? Have you checked the power supply?

Itīs a laptop and the fan seems to be running, because I can hear it. Is there any other way I could check it?

could be power supply
could be loose cable.
