Hi,
Usually that is a sign of overheating and your PC automatically shuts down to prevent damage.

However.. if I were you I would download a free hardware monitor for your computer.
(IE if you have an ASUS board download PC PROBE from ASUS if you have an INTEL board they have hardware monitors too. Do it, install it, and scope it out. See if your actually having a heat problem. And Pop the lid and make sure your fan is working and nothing is in its way.

If you do...you might have messed up a configuation in your bios set up which no newbie should mess with. Go find your Aunt Sue- the family PC guru - and have her go in and reset your BIOS set up to defaults.

There ARE malicious programs that do this kind of stuff.. even ...??? * Brain stuck.. SUB 7, notorious hacking program.. can force programs and rebooting galore.

If you have money or resources you can buy something like SISOFT which will analize your puter and tell you if you have any hardware settings wrong.

Is it an OLD computer? New PC? Got security?
What version of windows?

Security, I find, is the number one problem that causes operating system problems. People just dont realise how easy it is to mess with an unprotected PC.

A computer is a perfectionist's nightmare.

Anti-virus! AVG from....
www.grisoft.com (it's good and free).
A paid for version might be better ????

Surfing the net without proper anti virus is like driving a car with no insurence.

When I was a newbie and couldnt afford Norton, Id load up their free trial/good for amonth/ and update it and run it.

At the end of the month/ on win98 its easy to do this/ Id uninstall it completely~~ and load another trial.
