|Delete all temporary files and cookies. Open your browser e.g. Internet Explorer or Firefox and use the menus located at the top e.g. Tools then Options... Also, delete junk in the registry using a program like CCleaner (freeware). Make sure to make a backup of the registry before hand (this feature is in the CCleaner program). |
The difference between your computer from day one to now will show a big difference in speed due to all the junk accumulated over time. Cleaning the computer using cleaning software should be a regular maintenance routine (at least once a month).
Check to see if you computer has the maximum amount of RAM installed.
Check your download speeds with your Internet Service Provider e.g. Optus or BigPond. For example, depending on the plan you have, the speed could be faster if you upgrade your plan (although more money).
More extreme, you may want to upgrade your CPU (Central Processing Unit). E.g. from Intel Pentium 4 to Intel Core 2 Duo.
