Specs: Windows 7
My question seemed to be answered in this topic -

and the answer was to go to this site and download the file.

My questions/request:

>>>can someone give me step by step instructions for the the download. The "merge" doesnt show up, and I dont know what the hell the intructions are talking about? I'm really confused about step 4.

>>Is this a "fix all" fix, or will I have to open every single program, and merge it with this download...?

>When I click internet explorer , the "chose program you want to open file with" thing comes up, and I opened it with the downloaded file Then wordpad opened up and started typing in alien language.

The file you need to download is on this page:

Scroll down to the list of Filename Extension Types, then scroll down to exe (executable application files), click it and SAVE it in your usual downloads location. The file name is Default_EXE.reg

Now double-click the file.
Click "Run"
Click "Yes"

You should then see a box
"The keys and values have been successfully added to the Registry"

You can now delete the downloaded file, you do not have to repeat the process for every program. It's a "once only" fix for all 'exe' files.
