Computer keeps re-booting

Specs: Windows XP

My computer is constantly restarting without ever booting
up properly. I think I have some sort of virus - I am able to
start up only in safe mode where I have been able to take an
HJT log. I tried last known good configuration with no joy and for some reason my system restore was switched off. I'm now writing from another computer. Please let me know if I should post my HJT log.

My computer was being very slow to start up before. In a
bid to speed it up I stopped one of the media managers I
use from searching for files when I boot up. This didn't
really help but maybe I unchecked something I shouldn't
have by mistake at the same time. Any advice greatly

It's possible that your memory (RAM) has gone bad and when the bad part of the memory is accessed by running any software an error occurs and forces your PC to reboot. Run memory checking/test tools and see what the results are.
