Comodo Antivirus

July 31, 2007 at 10:54:09
Specs: Windows XP Home Edition, Intel 4/512MB
I have heard that the Comodo Firewall is a very good product and it is free! Has anyone any experience with Comodo Antivirus and how does it compare to say Norton, McAffee or any other popular named antivirus software! I'd be interested to hear your comments and views!

I would pass on Comodo's AV, it is simply not as satisfactory as the Firewall from the same company. I would recommend Avast in its place.

I agree with Sabertooth, the AV is not too good at all, that's why I mentioned Avast & Comodo in your other post instead of getting a security suite.

Thanks guys! As I had mentioned to XPUser4Real in my other post, I had decided on Comodo Firewall and Avast Antivirus! It was only whilst downloading the Comodo firewall from there home page that I happened to notice that they did an Antivirus as well and wondered if it was any good!

I have been using Comodo FIREWALL & the ANTIVIRUS software for 6 months now and I have to admit I find it to be great, I have had no virus's and am pleased with it so far, and little resources, I would recommend it highly, of course I don't go to a lot of bad sites but I do download a lot of stuff.

Thanks Pistal! I had decided to install Avast and Comodo, just haven't gotten around to it yet! My subscription for Norton runs out on the 18th of this month so I still have time! I was told there was no need to install a firewall anyway as there is a one built into my Fritz Box Router! That in unison with the Windows Firewall should be more than sufficient! Anyone any comments on that?

I also have the Comodo Firewall with the Antivirus, I have heard Avast is also good just have never personally used it, BUT If you are not going to install a firewall, and thinking of installing both Comodo and Avast Antivirus I do not think that is a good idea, you should only install one of them and which ever one you choose make sure to get Norton completely off your computer first......Norton will mess up either one you decide to use if files are left on your computer.

Thanks again for your comments! I have heard many reports of people installing Avast Antivirus and Comodo Firewall and they work well together without any problem! That's what I will try. I understand what you are getting at in that having the software from the same company should be compatible but I have heard that although Comodo Antivrus is OK, there are better for free!

I think that is fine, I just thought you were going to install TWO Anti Virus software, my mistake, I understand now 1 will be the firewall by Comodo and 1 will be the Avast for Antivirus, they will work good together, don't know why I thought you ment (2) antivirus softwares, good luck and let us know how you like Avast and Comodo.
