I was on a site and it said to download this codec thing to make media player work, and i did. however instantly my spybot detected something so i tried searching with AVG, Skybot search and destroy and adaware and none of them found any thing. By then i had disconected from the internet and everything and some program called Virus Burster and brain codec had installed it self, and a ballon thing in the tool bar kept flashing saying you have serious critical problems which linked to this virsu burster web site so i un installed both programs but brain codec remained. so i tried deleteing all the folders and i did except two of them something like psmnger.exe and pmmnoe.exe (im not sure if that one was right). So i tried logging on with my different opperateing system because i have two hard drives and deleted the two files. SO i thought i got rid of it and the constant attack and warning from spy bot had stoped. however the ballon is still there trying to link me to this site http://www.virusbursters.com/?aff=334. Please help as i have no idea how to get rid of this

That recently happened to my nephew too. He thought he was clicking an authentic codec package but was duped into some kind of virus/trojan remover program called VirusBurster. Of course, the whole thing is a sham to get you to buy their malware removal tool... right after they infect you in the first place, lol !!

If I remember right, I think he ran the (free) SuperAntiSpyware program above, and I believe it found the malware and removed it. So you might give it a shot and see if it helps you out.

I asked my nephew what in the heck he was searching for, and he mentioned something about "piggy sites", lol. He apparently was trying to view a naughty video but it would not play, so of course they give you the option to install their codecs. Voila... you instantly install the infection.... then they want to sell you their malware remover tool.

Not implying this pertains to your infection; I obviously have no idea how you got duped, but just thought I'd mention it in case it helps out somebody else.
