Does anybody know how to get rid of an annoying program that very often opens cmd.exe (for half a second), creates temporarily a moo.txt file on C:\ and that wants to send information to m00c0w.organiccrap.com. This is very annoying and I don't want to re-install my PC. I have used latest McAfee and no virus was found, I have removed all adware, but the problem persists. I run Windows XP. What else can I try ???
thanks for any help.

Try a trojan finder on a 30 day trial like; Agnitum's TAUSCAN, TDS or others at CNET Downloads or WEBATTACK. SWATIT from LOCKDOWN CORP is free. I know there are some issues with the lawsuit of the CORP, and I would not recommend it if it was not free and works. All the best!

Hi.

I had the same thing happen to me. What you have is a virus called Backdoor.K0wBot. It is spread using Kazza and other P2P file sharing programs. There is a removal tool at http://www.bitdefender.com/html/free_tools.php called AntiK0wBot.exe download and then run it. After a machine reset you should be ok.
I have now learnt to keep my antivirus software upto date. Polite suggestion you do the same :-)

I've got this virus right now, I've been able to stop the cmd boxes, but it's only by making Explorer32 stop respondin, and it restarts every time I restart the comp, I'll try the kowbot remover, but as it's scanning now, it gave me a lot of messages from my restore folder that say

Infected: Backdoor.K0wBot.1.3.A
Unable to clean

So i don't know how it will be after reset.
