Hey all, I have a question regarding applications that require local administrative privileges…In short is there a way to find out why an application needs local admin rights without actually viewing source code or what have you?
I am in a setting where multiple users are required to have local admin rights to use a total business management application. I would like to find a work around or solution to this problem seeing as it poses a potentially large threat to our network. I am trying to get in touch with the software engineer of the application however to no avail as of now. Wondering if anyone has any ideas...Clients are running XP pro mostly here and there we have a few 2k’ers.
I realize this question is vague in nature, I’ll provide more specifics if need be...

Where does it say the program requires Admin privileges?
First, try making the users Power Users. If that doesn't allow for the proper access, change the file permissions on the Program's Folder to give users Modify.
Life is more painless for those who are brainless.
