Hello. I want to do a back up of my system using nero to spread it over some cd's. I have masses of cd-r - are these ok to use for back up or should it be cd-rw?? With cd-r being read only I am a bit confused - does this just mean I cant write over whats burned to the CD but I can still move things from a cd-r onto my hard drive? Thanks

yes, CDR is write once read many times media. You can read anything you put on there, but once it's written you can't add more to or delete items from the CD. There's no problem you using these to back up if you label them correctly so you know which is the most recent version of the backup.

Hello, i use CD-RW's rather than CD-R, you can write upto a thousand times or more.
You can burn them or you can convert them to Drag and Drop like you do with a floppy.
A floppy can only hold 1.44MB, your CD-RW can hold 650MB's.I use the InCd that comes with Nero, all you have to do is right click on your CD like icon, place in a Cd-RW, new cd, click on the Format Disk? in Packet writing option, wait around 18 mins, allow it to eject the CD, then it is ready.
All you have to do is, open by clicking on the CD by the clock, in systray, a window will appear, then open where you want to copy from, drag the file etc over, drop it in the window, allow it to copy and thats it.You cannot use CD-R to do this, must be CD-RW's.
To copy all your Drives information, get Ghost. Uses a few CD-RWs, but will copy all your drives contents.
Ghost will cost around $60 with the manual, you can get it for around $15.
Try a search at www.google.com
Then ask here or elsewhere how you use it, is it best to burn or copy using incd etcHope this helps, Gep
