CDR Drive Keeps running and running

CPU/Ram: 2.08 ghz/448 ram

My cdr keeps running and searching for a disk even though there's no disk to insert for any reason. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. I've done 1/2 a dozen virus/ad/spy checks & such, nothing seems to be lingering. Please advise - thanks, KFA

Here is check list.

Do you have more than 1 rom installed?

Have the CD-R drive as the master and not the slave.

Ensure within Device Manager there are no conflicts.
