Every time I shut down my computer, I get an error message about ccApp.exe shutting down and it takes a few minutes (unless I click end now) I understand this is a Norton file, but why do I ge this error, and can I fix it?

Guess I should have mentioned -- I no longer have Norton installed on my computer (I have been trying to install 2005, but unsuccessfully) I have removed it with the norton removal tool AND add/remove programs, all my temporary internet files have been deleted, and I do have a floppy drive to scan (but no norton to scan it anyways) -- but the ccApp.exe still comes up at shut down as an error.

Something to try?

Download hijackthis http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/
and remove this line if found.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe"

reboot and delete
