A colleague has a problem with her PC. I flattened it and gave it a tidy a few weeks ago at which time everything was working fine. I installed AVG8 which updated, sorted out her Outlook, tested it and so on. No worries.
As of a couple of weeks ago, she noticed that her email wasn't working. The connection to our server times out. When I came to have a look at it, I also noticed her AVG hadn't updated in some time - it fails as being unable to connect to the server. I manually downloaded the latest files and did an "update from directory" followed by a full system scan. Nothing detected.
Next step was to try downloading Spybot. I can get the installer package, but when I start the install it falls over as it can't connect to the server to download the components.
I can get to AVG's actual web page, for example, but not download stuff. Other sites are fine. So the only "blockages" are anti-virus, anti-spyware and POP3/SMTP. Note that the email connection doesn't "time out" as it should - the "unable to connect" message pops up as soon as "Send/Receive" is clicked despite timeout being set to one minute. This is weird in my experience. I can ping the server from the command line, but not connect via SMTP or POP ports.
There is no firewall installed. I've disabled the Windows one. Connection to the 'net is through a brand new NetGear DG834G and another user in the same building (and me) can work through this with no problems. At one point I swapped the NetGear out for a USB modem and the problem remained, so it's definitely not that!
I checked the hosts file and it's empty apart from the loopback.
Following is the HijackThis log. Could anyone spot something obvious that I've missed? Unfortunately I'm limited on time as the colleague is in France (as am I) but I'm off back to the UK shortly. I can help her remotely, though. SO simple solutions would be appreciated as she's a self-confessed computer numpty! :)
Thanks in advance.
(just read the bit about not posting an HJt log unless asked so I'll post it if requested)
