I get these two messages:

"required .DLL file, NAVABOUT.DLL, was not found"

and

"NAVW32.EXE is not in the path, as pointed in the registry"

This first happened when I was trying to remove a trojan manually but I don't think it's the doing of this particular one (kryptonic ghost). Could it be another or did I delete something by accident? I'm thinking of reinstalling it but I want to find out all possible options first.

Hello Jenjen,
unfortunately, this is a wrong method to try to eradicate manually a trojan virus, because as lon as you don't find and destroy the worm into your hard drive, it will reactive itself again and again....
I suggest you download quickly the program "Trojan Remover 4.96 version" and read carefully the "readme" file in order to use properly the two scan generated by this program to destroy the "worm".

Thanks for replying, Imp.

I found mention of Trojan Remover in another topic shortly after making this one and I've since downloaded and used it. It didn't find anything so hopefully the removal was successful.

The 'NAVW32.exe not in path' message has gotten me all paranoid and I've been trying to find out about these virus scanner disabling worms but I can't find any evidence of one being in my system.
I tried to uninstall NAV via startup menu and Add/Remove programs but I got an 'unable to unistall' message from both methods.

I ended up copying and pasting the required .dll file from the CD into the NAV folder. I don't know if this is the normal way to do things but it seems to have worked.

I'd be happy to hear any comments on this.

Id like to add this is the best site for anything I've found in ages. Reading the other topics on the site in the last few days has helped and informed me a lot.
