My boot record has become corrupted on my #1 HD and I desperately need to get files off. I have it as a slave on a 98 machine, which is FAT while #1 is NTFS. The infected one has data intact on it but I have no idea how to access it. Any utilities or maneuvering tips anyone can add? thanks

NTFS is not normally accessible from Win98 - you may have some luck with the NTFS Reader for DOS
