Comment:

We can't install Nortons Antivirus 2004, because LiveUpdate Errors on installation "There is a problem trying to register with Liveupdate. Liveupdate will not be available for this product." It could be that the subscription has expired.

It could be coincidence, but at the same time we got the Sober virus. We have removed the Sober virus, but still cannot install Nortons.

Since this problem we can't access any Symantec & Security Response web pages.

Because we can't access the Symantec site we can't renew the subscription. Because we can't renew the subscription we can't install Nortons.

If subscription renewall is what the problem is, what do we need to remove from the registry so we can reinstall Nortons.

Glenda, Your inability to access any Symantec (Norton)sites may be caused by a hosts file problem. Check out the instructions under "Do this first: Check a Windows file" at the link below. Note that even though the link below may not represent your exact problem the "hosts" (no extension)file instructions may help with your problem.

hi glenda,
i would seriously consider another anti-virus as there are a whole lot of serious issues with norton 2004 security wise.
for more info you should go to their web site and download their patch for the live update.
all the best,
murve
