Can't get rid of a trojan virus

Hi - I have just installed Norton Antivirus 2009 and still have a virus (trojan I guess) that is generated pop-ups / unders all the time? Any help?
Turn off System Restore, delete temporary files, reboot in safe mode & run a full scan with Norton. Restart & see if the problem's gone - remember to restart System restore. If it's still there you may need to use a different scanner - most security vendors provide some on-line version.
