I recently discovered that i had a virus on my computer. It would not allow me to download any new programs (such as spyware etc), it would download to the destination i wanted and then the icon would disappear. I managed to get Super Anti Spyware on and ran it and AVG antivirus. It found some issues and corrected them. I have run it several times and it still says that it is finding ROOTKIT.Agent/GEN-ESQUL in the registry. I have run a registry cleaner several times to clean it out.
The problem is that when i download something the icon still disappears. Any ideas??

Try running Avast free and allow it to do a bootscan on reboot. Move all it finds to the chest.
It should remove the rootkit for youSome HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Thanks for that. I used regcure and it picked up plenty of errors but never seems to be able to get rid of all of them as they are there on the next scan.
Downloaded Avast and ran that both in windows and bootscan. It picked up a couple of things that i moved to the chest but still having the problems of my downloads disappearing from the location i save them too

Did you use the trial version of regcure? If so, read this:
