HELP I've had a few virus's and trojan horses (too many to get into) and after reinstalling OS win2000 3x's and eventually upgrading to win200 adv server I still have the same problems! One is - after connecting to the internet, once and then rebooting and reconnecting I can't get to the msupdate site (comes up as a blank page) so I can't download necessary updates, I also can't copy or move files, can't install software (get error message that I need admin rights yet I"m logged on as admin, I can't disconnect from the internet and I can't view the property sheets in the control panel admin tools. HELP HELP HELP I'm at my wits end and don't have any more OS upgrades to install.

Granted, it isn't an immediate solution, but you can go here and order a free copy of the Windows Security Update CD. That way if you need to re-install in the future you'll have all the patches in place immediately after installation and before opening yourself up to any security risks...

In the meantime, could you go to a clean computer and download the patches from Microsoft onto a CD?

I can't (booo hooo) when I try to click on your link I get an access denied error!!!! If I type in the url I get a blank screen. Since I've already connected to the internet and downloaded a MS update (not the one's I really need) I can't do much of anything now - except reinstall my OS and try again. HELP HELP HELP

After you reinstall W2K, be sure to have a firewall BEFORE you get onto the internet. if you don't have a software firewall on CD, get a hardware firewall (linksys, Dlink, etc).

good luck

If you want to spend $20, try this, it can't hurt. Pest Patrol might be able to clean you up & also get a free firewall.

My vote is, since you already reinstalled, you may as well do it again. From a safe computer, download ZoneAlarm onto a CD FIRST. Install W2K, then the firewall, then get the MS updates ASAP.

In the future, run protective software. Free zonealarm is good, AVG, F-PROT, lots of choices. read the forums here for options.

Doesn't anyone know where I can find (in the registry or system.ini or some system file) the reason why I can't get to any Microsoft sites or downloads. Blank page keeps coming up? Oh and I just found another virus - this time it was lovsan.f

I had the same problems and lovesan.a was the cause(admin error-shutdown in........)Do an update at a time .I know its slow but if you pick the right(critical) updates then you will eventually be able to get past it.
