I have outlook express 4 in windows 98 and I can't delete one of the emails that is infected with the w32klezh@mm virus. When I highlight it freezes the system. How can I delete this email without it affecting my system? Please help me. Can someone please tell me step by step how to do it. My computer freezes, norton catches it and closes outlook, or an error message comes on everytime I highlight an infected email.

Scroll down on this forum to Georges NICE KLEZ REMOVAL TOOL message. The other one we used to recommend was at the Symantec Website. George swears by this one, so it must be good. All the best!

Upgrading to IE5.5 or 6.0 might also help. I had a customer whose IE 4.0 crashed every time she highlighted a Klez e-mail as well, I think it has something to do with the Preview function. I upgraded her to 5.5 SP2, and she was able to go in and delete them.

If I just simply download and install the latest explorer will it upgrade my outlook express? And if it does will it erase all my emails? I don't want to lose any of my e-mails.

Yes, it will upgrade Outlook Express, and no, you won't lose your e-mails. You will, however, have to import them into OE6, as it stores messages in a different format than OE4. After upgrading, click on File->Import->Messages, and choose Outlook Express 4.

Try Winfile. It worked for me. I had the same problem. The PC also froze when I highlighted the file. Not with Winfile though.

Marjo- He's talking about highlighting e-mails in Outlook Express that causes his machine to freeze. How are you highlighting e-mails in Winfile?
