Comment:

My computer has been hacked and the hacker has left folders and files. The files can be deleted, but I can't delete the folders.
Here is the message displayed when trying to delete. "CANNOT DELETE FILE: CANNOT READ FROM THE SOURCE FILE OR DISK." Any suggestions?

None of the above worked. My computer had someone come in via an open FTP connection. Now closed! One of the folders has junk files which I can't delete. Same message.
Any more suggestions?

try loggin in as a different user and browsing to the folder. first rename it, then reboot and try to delete it again (still in a different account)

Reboot in Safe Mode - you should be able to delete whatever you want then :)
