Can't Delete Folder on Desktop?

September 19, 2011 at 18:22:30
Specs: Windows Vista

There's this folder that has been on my desktop for a while now which i cannot delete.
I have tried right clicking it, which gives me the options " Open, Explore, Empty Recycle Bin, Create Shortcut, Properties".
The folder is in chinese and when i click on it or press open, it links me to a chinese website taobao.love08.com, like some type of shortcut. I've also noticed that it opens up internet explorer, which i don't use, and that it changed the homepage to another chinese website : 6313.com
When i click explore, it opens up the desktop folder, and when i press properties, it says that they are not available.
I've tried dragging it into the recycling bin and looked for it in the uninstaller but it doesnt show up. Do you think a antivirus program might find it? I've only tried scanning with the free malware bytes so far

Very good idea to run your AV - I assume you have one. There are good freebies around such as "Avast" or "Microsoft Security Essentials".

As for the folder try "Move on boot" or similar freebie program.

If all else fails use a Linux Live CD such as Puppy Linux and delete it from there.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
