I can only connect to the interent in 'Safe Mode with Networking' With normal access it just refuses to connect. Previously i had to remove teh antivirus (i was using AVG) to allow it to connect. But since i installed the recent Microsoft patches, it will no longer allow access. I tried reinstalling AVG in safe mode but the setup does not allow it to do so. Meanwhile, i have installed and run Spybot and A Squared. Both were updated in Safe Mode and removed some Trojans, but the problem still exists. What would you suggest? TIA

Download and run Kaspersky AVP tool in safe mode: http://devbuilds.kaspersky-labs.com...
Once you download and start the tool in safe mode:

# Check below options:

    * Select all the objects/places to be scanned.
    * Settings > Customize > Heuristic analyzer > Enable deep rootkit search

# Click Scan
# Fix what it detects
# Zip/Rar Scan log/Summary and upload it to rapidshare.com. Post download link in your next message.

scanned it. Took just over 3 hours but guess what? Nothing picked up. It just gave a green screen saying 'no threats detected'.

OK just tried System restore and it wouldnt actully restore to any of the dates except from about 5 days ago. So here the internet was accessible. I thought i'd try and download AVG again. But it wasnt having it. It didnt let it install and striaght away came up with the 'no connection' error. Safe Mode with Networking is still OK though, so i've redownloaded Malwarebytes and am running it right now. Not holding out much hope though i just want to throw the laptop in the bin, tbh.

I scanned again in Safe Mode with Kaspersky, A squared and Malwarebytes, and again in normal mode with the same and nothing was detected. But again when i try and install an Antivirus it will not allow it. Suggestions now?

Not a problem.
The log from Kaspersky was completely clear. I rescanned again in safe mode and normal mode and everythig was pointed out as clear, no detection etc.. The second time i selected the deep scan option ( basically the one which takes longer still) but even this did not throw up any errors. Not sure what to send you at the moment. Does it still store the previous Kaspersky scans, as at the end it asked if i wnated to remove it,to which i clicked 'yes'? Should i rescan and resend the new results?

I've just downloaded the Windows updates, cleaned with C Cleaner and now there is no internet connection, still without AVG. I've also now downloaded, updated and run Avast in safe mode. Nothing detected. Rebooted, started in normal mode, tried to update (although it already is updated) and the same error message saying no connection, although the icon in the bottom right shows full connection. I'm running it in normal mode right now and will edit this post accordingly.

Edit: No change with Avast either. Still no internet connection.

There were none to remove, according to the scan reports.
