Message: Last night, I downloaded my security software. Well I didn't completely finish the process, so in turn I was looking for software for my mp3 player and downloaded a virus. It went to a blue screen. I couldn't do anything from there except turn it off. Then a clicking started right under my CD drive. I almost got completely got logged back into Windows and was able to get into my security software, but right when I clicked on the security link for the "Virus" it went back to that blue screen and I had to turn it off. Now it absolutely will not boot at all. It said something about my system driver was unidentifiable or corrupt. Is this fixable if I can't boot into Windows to re-scan? I'm going to try to run in Safemode, and try to reinstall tonight with the disk. I just don't know if it's going to get me anywhere. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. I'm not very computer savy, so I'm learning as I go and just trying to figure it out on my own.
The 'clicking' under your cd drives sounds ominous - I'd suspect a failed/failing harddrive - probably nothing to do with a virus. Go to the harddrive manufacturer's website & download the relevant utility for checking their drives.

A blue screen is usually, but not always a hardware issue. On the blue screen is there an error code like 0x0000 etc.?
