I have antivir installed and every time I do a scan with another program I get a message that worm/lovgate.ad is installed in one of my temp files. I looked it up and it scares me to death. I tried to get it off my computer with stinger and symantecs lovgate remover as well as about 5 other antivirus programs. Nothing has worked.

download ATF cleaner and Crap Cleaner, go to safe mode and undo system restore and scan with the above progs. Make sure to turn system restore back on when you reboot.

Thank you for ur advice. I ran those programs in safe mode and searched for the changes the worm might have put in the registry as suggested by mcafee and sophos. I found none. Also a search for altered file extentions turned up nothing. Antivir continues to send a popup that says worm detected but I assume its just the shell and the virus has been removed. So do I just click ignore next time I get the pop-up?

Ok I ran crap cleaner again this time not on safe mode but on normal and it deleted every folder and file in my temp directory so it seems the infected file is gone. Thank you XpUser for recomending it to me. I think it will save me a lot of headaches from now on.

Thanks for posting back! I always run ATF-cleaner and then Crap Cleaner before I do any spyware scanning (saves alot of time), they work well together
