Hello, i've been getting the message 'windows cannot open/find the file C:\WINDOWS\nail.exe' on startup. I have looked on other forums for answers, but their tutorials on removing the program have been confusing, as i don't have the randomly named system file. Any help as to what course of action i can take is greatly appreciated.

You have the Aurora/A Better Internet infection. You can find some information on the parasites here and here.

As for removal, I suggest trying AuroraFix. This tool should automatically remove the parasites from your system.

nail.exe is a harmful file related to aurora, which is a component of ABetterInternet.

Please try Aurora removal and A Better Internet removal instructions. It might be a possible fix to your problem.

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated. I have tried the spyware doctor in the links you gave me, and i have downloaded aurora fix. (i have not run it completely yet, it seemed slow and others wanted to use the computer) As i can't pay for the doctor right now, is there another way to remove it?

PS: i have tried the instructions given by XpUser4Real, but i didn't go through with them because i couldn't find the random file. If i post a HJT log could you have a look for me? Many thanks again.
