cannot open files, programs, applications except i can run my McAfee protection program but it says there are no viruses. i cant even change my volume settings. i can use my touch pad but i can use it to scroll up and down or left and right. error messages say "the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application." i ve specifically scanned for Sircam and Swen viruses but still it says that there are none. need help please!

... 0xC0000142: DLL Initialization Failure
... Its instances all appear to indicate that an application failed to initialize properly. Usually this is traceable to a DLL initialization failure

... try tapping "F8" key @ boot-up select repair option

... scroll down to Advanced Tools Overview<<<click

... try system restore first ... if that does not fix it back-up all your data .... love letters etc to other media.

... try windows complete pc restore

... the above method depends if Vista is on a restore partition if not you can try using a Vista DVD to boot up with same options.

... read this click HERE you may have to check/tick a box to display more restore points

... I imagine that if you have these options @ boot-up without using the dvd then an image to"factory" condition...as new(?) ...when you purchased it ...could be restored to ie... all your files will be wiped

... like it was when new... so save them onto dvd/cd usb stick what ever.
