Cannot get rid of Rootkit!

I have a machine running XP with four user signons. I experienced the google hijack problem on the owner signon but downloaded malwarebytes and the noscript plugin for firefox and thought the problem was solved. But my daughter signed on this morning and did a google search only to have it hijacked!!! How can I make sure the rootkit is COMPLETELY removed from my PC and not just from an individual signon.
I also discovered an additional user signon listed in McAfee that is not listed in my contol panel. What does this mean??
My PC is connected to my husband's PC that he uses for work via our home network and I don't want to infect his computer. Please help!!
