Comment:

My home page continually resets to "about:blank" giving me a search page and I get popups constantly. McAfee finds no viruses. Ad-Aware finds and removes problems but they just reappear. I have System Restore disabled. I have tried Reg Clean and even CWShredder but nothing seems to help. I have even manually edited my Registry removing everything Ad-Aware finds but the problem persits. Please HELP!

Thanks for your input,
Ms. Snake

well first things first u need more spyware detectors as adaware isnt enough so heres a few.

spybot s&d
pestpatrol

once u use these both download spyware blaster to keep your internet explorer from getting these in the first place. you also might want to check into better antivirus scanner....its called nod32 go to the website and download trail version its 30days once u use it you will probably not want to use mcafee anymore.

www.nod32.com
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

u also must have a firewall on your computer if u going to surf the internet so download either one of these free

sygate firewall
zone alarm pro.

any questions just post goodluck.

Here is the current list of Bazooka fixes .
http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/index.phtml?source=appvisit
Bazooka is freeware and Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP compatible
Click on the files found & you will be taken to a site that will show you how to remove , either with a program or manually .
It reports on all drives & partitions , so remember to check all these , when doing manual remove .
After the Download - It is important to remember that once the installation of Bazooka is completed , that you should update the File Signatures by clicking on the Update tab and check for an update .
Make sure you Update after installing & then regularly .

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Unfortunately nothing seems to have worked.
I've run Spybot and cleaned everything it found, downloaded Bazooka and it found 2 problems-SystemDir.searchbar and ISTBBar. I followed the instructions and removed the first but am unable to remove ISTBar. I also ran Hijackthis and cleaned but the about:blank page and popups still persist. Any other ideas?
Thanks for your input,
Ms. Snake

hi ms,
post your hijackthis log here.
let's not give up!
what you do with hijackthis is scan and then hit the save log button. it saves it as a text file then copy it and paste it here.
all the best,
