someone has sent a letter to my boss and i want to trace the sender, can i do that and if so how? Please help asap this letter can be fatal to my career.

The only way you can get an IP address is to contact the mail service that received the mail and they may or may not give it to you depending on what you tell them. Once you get the IP, you can trace it to an ISP (Internet Service Provider) or to a proxy server if your unlucky, which will more than likely give you the region from where the sender lives but the ISP will probably not give you their clients name and address without a warrant. If this letter was sent to your boss inside the company private network and you know where abouts the time it was sent you could possibly try probing your tech guys for an IP address and the IP address they give you, if they do, can be traced to a specific work station.
