Finally I managed to get the spyware off my mother in law's computer, it was badly infected. I think I know how it got infected. Her son (my brother in law) lives with her and he looks at some, well, interesting sites. How do I know this? He's not too tech savvy, nor is he all that bright, and he doesn't know to dump his temp files and history when he's "finished." So when my wife uses my MIL's computer she'll go to the address bar and type www dot and then the next letter of some innocuous site she wants to go to, and whoa, when the address bar tries to autocomplete with previously visited sites, there's some interesting site he was on.

None of my business anyway, right? Well, there's just one problem with that. My MIL's grandchildren also live at her place. (They're not my wife's kids, nor this BIL's kids, they're the kids of another brother of my wife, and this other BIL is a bum who can't be bothered to raise his own. But I digress.)

My wife wants me to set up my MIL's computer to dump temp files and history every day, automatically. Like when you go in IE to Tools > Delete Browsing History, then delete all. She wants the computer to do that every day, automatically. Does anybody know how I could set up to do that?

Thanks.
Jim

Jim, Open IE>Tools>Internet Options and under the General tab set the days to keep History to zero (0) and under the Advanced tab scroll down to Security and checkmark "Empty temporary internet folder when browser is closed", click Apply/OK.
