Hi everyone,
I was playing team fortress(almost like counterstrike) online with other people. Then at one point some other person joined the game and i continued to play. But he started to call me names and trashed talked a bit. So i did a little trash talk myself. Then i left the game. Then a few moments later i started to get this message from my firewall saying " A Remote System Is Attempting To Acess Your Computer" then it list the ip attackking me and inbound and such. And it ask me to block it or allow it. So i blocked it. But it keeps coming back continously. But luckily my firewall had autoblocked and its currenrtly blocked from me for now.
So my question is, is it possible for someone to hack me or try to target my computer through a online game like teamfortress or copunterstrike etc.?

Sounds like your firewall is doing exactly what it's supposed to do!
Unless he has thousands of hours and tools that would make the CIA envious, relax, you are safe.

email the abuse address and report what is happening. They should resolve that problem for you.
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I COULD get your ip while playing an online game and try to attack you, but hey, if your firewall IS working, whats the problem? It's like saying, "ohh norton STOPPED a virus? can it still get me?"

what kind of firewall do you use? report his IP to your ISP and they will take care of it.
Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours.

It is possible to be hacked through this specific game. Secondly, I will mention that when you play online games you are exposing a potential security hole, called a port, when you run an online game, you open a port and allow your ip to communicate with others. Unfortunatly, there is little you can do to mask an ip while gaming online because your ip is required to communicate with others. So to answer your question yes it is possible. This game in peticular is known for poor security to. Unless they have done some serious patching. From the sounds of your case, the attacker somehow identified you ip and attempted to attack you on a different port than that of the game that you were using. Sounds to me like a script kiddy, or some youngster not knowing what he is doing. If I were you, I would try and setup a proxy, can be done in less than 5 minutes, if you need help setting it up I can post instructions. A proxy is basically a masked ip, your data will be sent to a server, which in turn communicates with whatever your looking at, in this case your game. This way, the attacker wont know your true ip. Another good idea, buy a $20 4 port router. This will help prevent attacks, but is limited like a software firewall in the sense that if you initiate a communication on your pc, it will go through, even if the initiated communication is unknown about to you. Don't use hacks in online games, as they often house trojans and pose security risks. Oh, and drop your current ip and get a new one, that way this guy won't be able to find you again.

I wouldn't bother reporting the ip, spare your time, nothing is ever done when you send them accept aid in peace of mind. Atleast in my expierence. Do you think they are going to have the FBI or CIA after someone for a video game hack? I doubt it...

So i'm getting alerts taht i'm being attack? And if i lock it i'm safe? ..but what if turn my computer off and my internet is still on...will they have control ?
Thanks for the tips earlier

No. Well, there is a possibility, if they are on your local area network, and you have taken time to install a hardwire from your NIC card to your system board for a wake-on-lan feature, I will take a shot in the dark and say you havnt done this.
Secondly, make sure you change your ip every so often to, if your always on, your ip maybe static (not changing) you want a dynamic ip (constantly changes).
