laptop/desktop? Do you have another computer? If you do, you could install the hard disk in another unit, but not to boot off, as a slave. Then you can use free recovery software, like Recuva or PC Inspector file recovery to get the photos. Then after you copy them to a safe location, run a virus scan make sure there are no bugs in the photos.

if you can create a bootable cd from this:

boot from it, locate your file and drag them onto a usb flash drive
did you try safemode?

This is comical...response #1 saying after you slave a HD to another PC you have to use recovery software. In all my days I have never heard that one...maybe just eager to help?
If you slave a drive, you just open the slave and drag or copy all the files wanted to the main computer, it's as simple as that ;-)

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Ya you're sooooo right, but for the short time it takes to run a quick scan with recuva or whatever, it beats trying to explain taking ownership of files etc if the virus has changed his access to the files or who knows, but yep if the simplest solution works I'm all for it. I should have suggested he just try dragging and if any issues arise from ownership a link. Hope that gave you a good laugh for the day;)
